Did you ever thought of a graphical user interface for scp (secure copy) in your Linux environment?
When you are using KDE3.5 you can be happy: using scp/ssh is so nice and simple that I'd wonder why this feature is not known for most people (people = KDE user)!
You can use your ordinary konqueror for browsing remote directories and file transfers!
I got it right now from a forum posting at kde.org: forget about krusader (one other possibility), its much more comfortable:
simply type
fish://remote_host.xxx
into the command line of your konqueror and voilà ... a tiny window pops up to type your password and instantly you have a graphical interface for ssh/scp!!! Amazing! Really really amazing...

As you might know NTFS partitions are accessible for a running Linux system if the Linux kernel is compiled with NTFS support (or at least supports it via a loadable module).
But if one try to mount a NTFS partition, one has to be aware of the right mount options to have the NTFS partition mounted as a normal user, and maybe also to have write access. (The latter I would not recommend.)
But it took a while to find the right settings for /etc/stab, here is my perfect working version: add a similar line to /etc/fstab and change both the device of the partition and the mount point according your system setup:

die liebe nasa hat einen so genannten orbit simulator auf einer web site des near earth orbit programms, mit der man sich einen grafischen eindruck vermitteln lassen kann, wie beispielsweise asteroidenorbits die planetenbahnen kreuzen. :)
Demnach ist in der nacht von sonntag (gestern) zu montag (heute) der asteroid 2004 XP14 haarscharf (432.000 km) an der lieben erde vorbeigeflogen.

krass! selbstgemnachtes nylon...nicht ganz billig ($120) aber ein echter zeitvertreib und sieht gut aus. Die zutaten sind angeblich beschaffbar ohne weiteres...check es mal aus, dr. katze!

HDR: high dynamic range imaging ... nutzt 32 bit per pixel :)
auszug aus wikipedia: "High Dynamic Range (HDR) ist eine Bezeichnung für das maximale Kontrastverhältnis in einem Bild. Dieses liegt bei einem normalen Bild, einem sog. LDRI (Low Dynamic Range Image, wie zum Beispiel JPEG-Dateien), bei ca. 250:1, bei einem HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image, wie zum Beispiel HDR- oder EXR-Dateien) bei ca. 60.000:1. Das heißt aber auch, dass man dieses Kontrastverhältnis auf normalen Monitoren mit 255 Helligkeitswerten nicht darstellen kann, dazu benötigt man spezielle HDR-Displays. Man kann jedoch einen Eindruck von HDR-Bildern auf normalen Monitoren gewinnen, indem man ein sog.
